Sad Loss: Stephen Roberston

Following the tragic death of champion Stephen Roberston last week, the Ski Racing community came together on the weekend  for a moving tribute during the the Sydney Bridge to Bridge.

Stephen fell and died while practicing on the Hawkesbury River at about 2.45pm on Thursday.

Chris Stout who was skiing with Stephen on Thursday, skied 1 up behind Noel Griffin’s boat, Burnin. As the team crossed the line all the unlimited boats and teams assembled along the bank and cheered in Stephen’s memory.

100 Red balloons where then released.

As a tribute many of the skiers wore black tape around their arms and wore with pride Stephen’s trade mark white zinc on the lips.

Stephen has left a huge impact on the sport of Skiracing not only in Australia, but all around the world. So many kids through the years have aspired to be like him. Stephen coached many up and coming racers that today run at the top of their field.

Our thoughts go out to the Robertson & Graziano families and we wish Stephen God Speed………
